What is the bright star below the moon that has been out lately?

There has been a really bright star out lately and I would like to know what that is? Is it a planet? If so which one?|||I saw that last night as well and wondered the same thing. I just checked the Adler Planetarium here in Chicago and their web site says it was Venus!
