I'm going to travel on United later this year in the summer, so I want a star alliance card. It's the same as a United Frequent Flyer Miles Card right? Only it encompasses all the airlines under Star?|||There is no such thing as what you're asking for. Membership in any of the frequent flier programs in the Star Alliance will allow you to earn and redeem on that airline as well as the rest of the Star Alliance partners, but there isn't such a thing as a Star Alliance membership (that is, one that isn't affiliated with a single airline, but rather the entire alliance).
In other words, you can (and probably should, if that's the airline you'll fly the most) join the UA Mileage Plus program and earn miles not only on UA, but also any of the other Star Alliance partners -- that will achieve the goal of what you want to do.|||Join United's program. If/when you fly on another airline that is a Star Alliance member just give them the United number.
