Where should I start with the Star Wars expanded universe comics and graphic novels?

I really like comics and would like to check out some of the Star Wars stuff, but it can be a bit overwhelming. I am 23 years old, so I do not want anything too childish. I also am a bigger fan of the Dark Side. I have only watched the movies, so suggestions would be very much appreciated.|||There are many potential jumping-on points for the Star Wars comics. Here are a few series to check out first:

Darth Maul: This is a four-issue miniseries that features the titular character doing all of the awesome stuff that he should have done in the movie.

Dark Empire (along with Dark Empire II, and Empire's End): This series of miniseries is what started the "Dark Horse Comics" version of the comics franchise. It's got everything you'd want in a Star Wars series: Luke, Leia, Han, and Chewie, Boba Fett, huge world-wrecking machines, and a villain everyone thought met his end in "Return of the Jedi"...

Star Wars: Legacy: This is an ongoing series that recently ended. It takes place 125 years after "Return of the Jedi". The Empire rises again and overthrows the Galactic Alliance with the help of a new order of Sith Lords (there are a LOT more than two). The Empire is then likewise taken over by the Sith, ushering dark times for the Galaxy Far, Far Away. Smuggler Cade Skywalker struggles against his destiny but has to come to terms with the fact that he might just be the only one who can save the galaxy from the evil Darth Krayt. The story doesn't require a lot of knowledge of the other EU books (although they certainly enhance the experience). Overall, it's well-written, well-drawn, and as dark a Star Wars story as one could hope for.
